Using aromatherapy candles for stress relief is an effective way to signal your brain that you’re safe and it’s time to relax. If you make aromatherapy a regular part of your routine your brain will start to associate certain fragrances with certain moods. The most popular application of aromatherapy is stress relief.
The warm glow candlelight accompanied by a pleasant fragrance is a wonderful way to destress. The candles I recommend below are made by blending quality essential oils with soy wax. Soy candles are known for being long burning, clean burning, and environmentally friendly. Soy wax is also the best wax to use for aromatherapy because it has a lower melting point than other waxes. This means that more fragrance gets distributed into the air quicker.
In order to ensure your soy candles burns evenly and properly, you should keep the wick trimmed to ¼ of an inch, and allow the wax to melt all the way to the outermost rim before extinguishing. Be sure to allow the candle to cool thoroughly between uses.
In order to minimize smoke when you extinguish a candle, you should dip the wick into the melted candle wax instead of blowing it out. You just push the wick into the wax and then immediately pull it right back up. This will quickly extinguish the flame entirely and minimize any smoke. You can use a specialized tool called a “wick dipper” for this; they come in nifty shapes and some are adorned with embellishments. Or, if you prefer to keep things simple, you could make your own out of a large paperclip.
I choose to recommend the candles below based on their quality and the fragrance blends used. Certain fragrances and fragrance blends are better at relieving stress than others.
Combining the beauty of a decorative candle with effects of aromatherapy is a wonderful way to relieve stress and turn your home into a sanctuary. In order to maximize the stress relieving effects, be sure to choose the highest quality candles you can afford. The higher quality the candle, the longer it will burn and the more fragrant it will be.
The suggestions above are pricey, but they are worth it. However, if you can’t afford them, then obviously, don’t buy them. The whole point is to relieve stress, not compound it further by living beyond your means.
If you can afford them, then why not invite a friend over to enjoy them with you? Light a few candles, have a few drinks, share a few laughs, and lighten your mood with every breath.
